Sheet Metal Fabrication & Metal Roofing Panels - Florida

Straighline Metals fabricates a full line of roofing metal products, including:

Drip Edge – A metal flashing or other overhanging component with an outward projecting lower edge, intended to control the direction of dripping water and help protect underlying building components.

Metal Roof Panels – A metal roof panel, typically a double standing seam or batten seam; usually requires solid decking underneath and relies of slope to shed water.

Standing Seam – Those types of metal roofs typically have panels that run vertically up the roof. These types of metal panel roofs are called “Standing Seam” because their prominent visual feature is the raised interlocking seam which joins one panel to the next. Often called “commercial roofing,” or “agricultural panel roofing,” or even “barn roofing,” these products do provide the great protection and durability for which metal is known.

Flashing – refers to thin pieces of impervious material installed to prevent the passage of water into a structure from a joint or as part of a weather resistant barrier (WRB) system.

Gravel Stop – Traditional built up roofing (informally called “tar-and-gravel” roofing) consists of multiple layers of roofing felt mopped with layers of hot liquid bitumen, and surfaced with gravel. At the edges of the roof, some means is required of terminating the roofing, preventing water from running underneath the roofing, and preventing the gravel surfacing from washing off in heavy rains. The traditional method is a sheet metal fabrication called a gravel stop.

Facia – The horizontal “fascia board” which caps the end of rafters outside a building may be used to hold the rain gutter. The finished surface below the fascia and rafters is called the soffit or eave.

Surface Mount Counter Flashing – Provides a watertight protection along parapet terminations providing a finished look.

L Flashing – L-shaped roof flashing is usually referred to as step flashing. Step flashing is installed where the roof and the side wall meet to defend against water penetration.

Valley Metal – Metal flashing designed to catch water rushing down two roof planes.

Chimney Cap – Designed to keep the rain out and arrest any sparks that may be released into the environment.
